- ABOUT THE ITEM -
Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) officially known as General Edward Lawrence Logan International Airport is a major international airport that serves the greater Boston Metropolitan area. Located in East Boston, it covers 2,384 acres with six runways and four passenger terminals. It's the largest airport in the state of Massachusetts and the New England region in passenger and cargo volume. Boston Logan is currently ranked the sixteenth busiest airport in the United States and serves as the main hub for Cape Air and Delta Air Lines. Opened on September 8, 1923 under the name Jeffery Field, it was mainly used by the Massachusetts Air National Guard and Army Corps. After the second World War, the airport became a major gateway to the New England region with Pan American World Airways operating non-stop flights to Shannon Ireland from Boston. The state of Massachusetts later renamed the airport in 1943 in honor of Major General Edward Lawrence Logan, a Spanish-American war officer from South Boston.
