Chicago Midway International Airport (MDW), also known as Midway Airport or Chicago Midway is a major international airport on the south side of Chicago, Illinois, United States. Located eight miles (13 km) from the Loop, the airport was established in 1927, and served as Chicago's primary airport until the opening of O'Hare International Airport in 1955. Midway is currently the second-largest airport in the Chicago metropolitan area and the state of Illinois.
