- ABOUT THE ITEM -
U.S. Navy Oliver Hazard Perry Class (FFG) is class of guided missile frigates formerly operated by the United States Navy. The class is named after U.S. Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry the hero of the naval battle of Lake Erie. Seventy One vessels were constructed between 1975 and 2004 with the last remaining ship USS Simpson decommissioned by the U.S. Navy in 2015. Some of the retired vessels were mothballed and others transferred to partner states. Several vessels are still in active service in the navies of Turkey, Egypt, Poland, Pakistan, Spain, Taiwan and Bahrain.
