- ABOUT THE ITEM -
U.S Navy Ticonderoga Class (CG) is a class of guided missile cruisers operated by the United States Navy. First ordered in 1978, the Ticonderoga class along with the Arleigh Burke Class DDGs uses the Aegis Combat System and is the primary surface combatants of the U.S. Navy. This class of vessels are multi-role surface combatants designed for land attack, surface warfare, anti-aircraft warfare and anti-submarine warfare. Newer vessels of the Ticonderoga class are equipped with anti-ballistic missile capabilities. Twenty seven vessels were built between 1980 and 1994 with 22 currently active in the U.S. Navy.
