Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (KFFO) is a United States Air Force installation east of Dayton, Ohio. The base includes the facilities of both wright and Patterson fields. The 88th Air Base Wing (88 ABW) is the host unit at the base and operates all the facilities at the base. Wright-Patterson AFB opened in 1917 as Wilbur Wright Field and McCook Filed both established by the Aviation section, US Signal Corps. The facility was renamed Wright-Patterson AFB in 1948.
